Library Launches Project During COVID-19 Shutdown to Dramatically Improve Lighting Aesthetics and Control Capability while Realizing Annual Energy Savings

The Port Chester-Rye Brook Public Library’s goal for its lighting upgrade was to improve aesthetics and reap energy savings. Brightcore implemented a complete redesign of the existing layout to reduce 50% of the fixtures while delivering superior light output. The existing disparate architecture of recessed lights, troffers and track lighting was replaced with a consistent LED fixture approach across the entire library to provide a cohesive look and feel.

“Port Chester-Rye Brook Public Library strategically improved building performance while securing energy savings. Lighting aesthetics are key element to a patron’s experience at the library,” said Mike Richter, president of Brightcore Energy. “This is a great example of taking action during the COVD-19 disruption to achieve real facility improvements for the community,” he said.

Paul Zaccagnino, board vice president of the Portchester Rye Library commented: “ The new fixtures and controls installed by the Brightcore team have transformed our facility. The library is illuminated like never before, giving visitors a completely different experience. We also look forward to the energy savings the library will achieve from this lighting upgrade project.”

The project included Acuity NLight wireless controls platform that enables dimming, daylight harvesting, and control sequences from a program or iPhone/Android handheld device.
