Brightcore Energy, a leading provider of end-to-end clean energy solutions to the commercial and institutional (“C&I”) market, announced today the completion of an LED lighting transformation project at New Canaan Country School.

Founded in 1916, New Canaan Country School, an independent, co-educational day school for students age 3-grade 9, partnered with Brightcore to switch its legacy lighting to energy-efficient LED lighting in the campus’ Thacher Building, which houses the Early Childhood Education center.

Brightcore upgraded all lighting in the building, through a combination of installing new integrated LED fixtures and retrofitting existing fixtures with new LED lamps and ballasts, as well as installing sensors and controls on both the interior and exterior of the building. More than 300 fixtures were upgraded.

As part of its Efficiency as a Service (EasS) model, Brightcore provided a range of seamless, turn-key services to the school, which included audit, design, specification, procurement, installation, and recycling. In addition, Brightcore helped New Canaan Country School secure a rebate from the local utility, equivalent to 25 percent of the total project cost, thereby lowering its upfront investment in the project and increasing its return on investment.

“This LED upgrade project contributed significantly to New Canaan Country School achieving the overall sustainability goals we set for our campus. The project is expected to reap a 75% reduction in annual energy usage for lighting in our Early Childhood Education center, which is remarkable. Brightcore made it easy for us to remain operational, perform this transformation affordably and to realize significant cost savings while reducing our carbon footprint. Furthermore, Brightcore also customized our project by incorporating direct feedback from our staff, whose contributions helped result in a successful transformational project. With Brightcore, this was an extremely easy and beneficial process,” said Bob Mueller, chief financial officer at New Canaan Country School.

“It has been shown that enhancing lighting in schools and educational institutions positively impacts learning and fosters greater engagement amongst students. This project will help improve the learning environment at New Canaan Country School,” explained Mike Richter, president of Brightcore Energy. ”

Assisting clients with LED lighting as well as various other energy efficient transformations we offer contributes to reducing their carbon footprint while improving their bottom line. This LED lighting project helped New Canaan Country School decrease operating costs by lowering energy and maintenance expenses previously associated with their legacy lighting. We are pleased to bring solutions that affect positive change and enhance the environment in the communities in which we live and work,” Richter said.
