Brightcore Energy's Award-Winning Geothermal Project at The Beresford Recognized by ENR NY 2024

Brightcore Energy's innovative geothermal project at The Beresford Cooperative in New York City has earned a prestigious spot on Engineering News-Record's (ENR) NY 2024 Best Projects list. This recognition by one of the most respected publications in the construction and engineering industries showcases the pioneering efforts that went into integrating geothermal heating and cooling technology into one of the city’s most iconic residential buildings.

A Milestone in Urban Geothermal Innovation

The Beresford project exemplifies how geothermal energy can be seamlessly integrated into a historic building’s infrastructure, even in the space-constrained, densely populated heart of New York City. By utilizing our proprietary Urban Geo solution, we overcame complex challenges, drilling within the existing building to install a state-of-the-art geothermal heating and cooling system that significantly reduces both energy consumption and carbon emissions.

"This recognition showcases the power of collaboration and innovation," said Michael Richter, President of Brightcore Energy. "We are proud to have delivered a solution that meets and exceeds the energy demands of a historic building like The Beresford."

Geothermal: The Future of Sustainable Urban Development

Geothermal energy has long been a cornerstone in reducing emissions and energy costs, and The Beresford project shows just how applicable this renewable technology is in urban settings. By adopting ground-source heat pumps, we helped The Beresford achieve greater energy efficiency without compromising the integrity of this historic structure. The benefits of geothermal extend far beyond energy savings, positioning buildings like The Beresford as leaders in urban decarbonization.
